New passenger car registrations down by 42.2 pc last year

New passenger car registrations dropped by 42.2 per cent last year compared to 2010, but a hike of 54.6 per cent was reported in the case of freight vehicle registrations. “In 2011 new passenger car registrations dropped by 42.2 per cent compared to 2010, while new freight vehicle registrations grew by 54.6 per cent,” a National Statistics Institute (INS) communiqué reads. In Q4 of 2011 new passenger car registrations dropped by 54.5 per cent compared to the same period the year before. New car registrations dropped by 54.8 per cent, new registrations of buses and minibuses dropped by 44.2 per cent and new registrations of mopeds and motorcycles dropped by 16.3 per cent.
