A Stormy Night opens Caragiale Year at TNB

The Bucharest National Theatre (TNB)’s Amphitheatre Hall hosts on Sunday, February 12, a presentation of Ion Luca Caragiale’s “O noapte furtunoasa” (A Stormy Night), directed by Felix Alexa. The widely-acclaimed production, which has been part of the TNB repertoire since 2002, opens the series of events by which the National Theatre proposes to mark the Caragiale Year. According to the TNB website, the Caragiale Year will continue at the Bucharest National Theatre with productions signed by first-rank directors revisiting the iconic playwright’s body of work: Horatiu Malaele offers us his own treatment of “O scrisoare pierduta (The Lost Letter), Alexandru Dabija will stage a dramatic adaptation of “Doua lozuri” (Two Lottery Tickets), and Radu Afrim will tackle “Napasta” (The Misfortune). Silviu Purcarete will direct “Conu’ Leonida fata cu reactiunea” (Mr. Leonida and the Reactionaries), Gigi Caciuleanu promises us a choreographic adaptation of Caragiale’s work, titled “D’ale noastre, while the maestro Radu Beligan has in store for us a Caragiale recital.
