BVB turnover up by 66 pc last year

The Bucharest Stock Exchange (BVB)’s turnover rose by 66 pc last year, to RON 21.7 M (EUR 5.1 M), while net earnings trebled to nearly RON 17 M (EUR 4 M), backed mainly by the rise in commission revenue after Fondul Proprietatea (FP)’s listing, Mediafax reports. In 2010, the Stock Exchange reported a turnover of RON 13 M and net earnings of RON 5.7 M. BVB saw a significant rise in operating profit in 2011, from RON 300,000 to RON 6.39 M. Results from operating activities in the fourth quarter of 2011 were negative, at -RON 390,000, but less steep than the RON 1.8 M-losses reported for the same interval of the preceding year. The Stock Exchange operator closed the fourth quarter, according to preliminary figures, with net earnings of RON 1.5 M, against RON 460,000-losses for the same interval of 2010.
