Themed auctions marathon

This February, Artmark has in store for art-lovers a themed auctions marathon, some of which count as national premieres. The series will kick off with the “Martisor” auctions, to take place on February 21 and 22 at the World Trade Center – Pullman Hotel. The February 21 auction, “Martisor I” – Painting and Sculpture Auction, includes a selection of 172 small-sized painting and sculpture works signed by the greatest names in Romanian art history. The highlights will be two paintings by Grigorescu, “Apple Blossoms” and “House in Campina”.

The second auction, „Martisor II” – Vintage March Gifts, Jewellery and Decorative Art Auction, scheduled for February 22, comprises an exquisite selection of jewellery pieces and decorative objects forged out of precious metals in some of Europe’s finest decorative art workshops. A rare item on offer in this auction is the silver-and-gold Faberge cigarette case, bearing the Trube?koi-Calinescu Princely Monogram, made in the prestigious Faberge jewellery workshop, Goldsmith to the Imperial Court of Russia. The third auction, to take place on February 23, at the Athenee Palace Hilton Hotel, will tempt collectors with photographs and objects that belonged to some of the greatest Romanian actors and props featured in highly successful films and theatrical performances, which they can bid for in the first half of the evening, in the Cinema Memorabilia Auction.
