Udrea: PDL’s candidate for Bucharest Mayor’s Office, to be launched in March

In an interview published yesterday by “Evenimentul Zilei”, the head of the Democratic-Liberal Party (PDL)’s Bucharest organization, Elena Udrea, stated that the party’s candidate for the Bucharest Mayor’s Office would be announced “soon”, “most likely in March”. “We evaluated all those who voiced, in one way or another, an intention to run, as well as those we considered likely candidates. Their scores are more or less equal. In my opinion, it’s not necessarily a potential candidate’s score at the moment that counts, but rather their potential to rise in the polls,” Udrea argued. She further stated that the list of potential candidates analyzed included Silviu Prigoana, Monica Macovei, Vasile Blaga (who announced would not enter the race), Adriean Videanu, Cristi Preda, Costica Canacheu and Teodor Paleologu. According to the PDL Bucharest leader, the top three candidates based on the Bucharest voters’ preferences are Oprescu, ‘Piedone’ and Prigoana.
