The High Court of Cassation and Justice (ICCJ) on Tuesday pronounced the verdict in a lawsuit in which Prince Paul asked the Romanian Justice to uphold the decision of the Tribunal of Lisbon, which ruled in 1965 that his father, Carol Mircea was the legitimate son of King Carol II.
The Supreme Court admitted Prince Paul’s request and formally recognised him as member of the royal family, realitatea.net reports.
The legal controversy has been going on for many years. Prince Paul always claimed that he should inherit the royal crown and won lawsuits in several courts abroad. This was also the case of the verdict issued by the Lisbon Tribunal. In Romania too, Prince Paul was granted recognition by two courts.
