NATO to buy reconnaissance UAVs

13 NATO member states, including Germany, Italy, Romania and the United States, will take part in the Alliance Ground Surveillance system, 5 UAVs set to be bought by 2017, Mediafax informs. “The recent operations in Libya have shown the importance of these equipments. We will prove we are determined to learn lessons from these missions,” NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen stated. He added that the AGS system will give commanders the capacity to see what happens on the ground, pointing out that the system’s command center will be located in Sigonella air base, Sicily.
