“Room 1306 [I Am Myself]” – “phantasmal performance” on March 2

The Paradis Serial company will kick off its 2012 season with a special “Martisor” presentation of the choreographic show “Room 1306 [I Am Myself]” – one of the most successful and original performances of 2011, widely appreciated by the critics and public alike, hotnews.ro reports.Signed by choreographer Cosmin Manolescu, “Room 1306 [I Am Myself]” is a “phantasmal” performance about “the body in a private space”, which can express “a place, a name, a state of mind, at any rate something impossible to define, something mysterious and most certainly fragile” and which calls upon “our individual powers of imagination”, to quote from some reviews of the performance. The show stars Catrinel Catana and Cosmin Manolescu. The performance may involve a direct interaction with the live audience and is rated 16+.“Room 1306 [I Am Myself]” had its European premiere in August 2011 during the Stockholm Fringe Fest, with the support of the Romanian Cultural Institute (ICR) in Stockholm, and was subsequently presented at the University of Plymouth (UK) at the invitation of ICR.“Room 1306 [I Am Myself]” is a co-production of the Gabriela Tudor Foundation/ Paradis Serial Company and the Bucharest National Dance Centre, in partnership with the Bucharest Intercontinental Hotel. The project was produced with the support of the Cullberg Ballet (Stockholm) and the 4Culture Association (Bucharest), in collaboration with the “George Apostu” Cultural Centre (Bacau), within the Wild Cards – Jardin d’Europe programme. The show is thought up as a six-hour-long performance marathon and will be presented on March 2, 2012, 6pm to 12pm, at the Bucharest Intercontinental Hotel. Those who wish to attend the show should book a seat at least one day in advance at serial.paradise@artsf.ro or on the “I Am Myself” Facebook page, also mentioning the starting time of the selected performance.
