The painting “Apple Blossoms”, by Nicolae Grigorescu, was sold for EUR 55,000 in the “Martisor” Painting and Sculpture Auction organized on Tuesday evening by Artmark House, which tempted collectors with a selection of over 170 small-scale works. 94.7 pc of the works on auction were sold and total sales amounted to EUR 503,355, according to the Artmark website.Another work by Grigorescu, “House in Campina”, appraised at EUR 15,000-25,000, fetched EUR 30,000. However, the most spectacular rise was reported by a nude bearing Misu Teisanu’s signature, “Seduced”, initially appraised at EUR 300 – 600 and sold for EUR 10,000.Artmark organized yesterday the second “Martisor” auction – Vintage March Charms, Jewellery and Decorative Art, offering a selection of refined jewellery and decorative objects forged out of precious metals in Europe’s finest workshops. Today, collectors are invited to bid for a range of personal artefacts associated with the memory of the most beloved Romanian actors, photographs and props featured in successful plays and films. These special objects – a total 78 – will be on offer in the first half of the evening, in the Cinema Memorabilia Auction.The second half of the evening is allotted to the Postmodernism and Contemporary Art Auction, which includes a selection of 62 art works signed by first-rank names of Romanian post-war and contemporary art, the likes of Corneliu Baba, Alexandru Ciucurencu, Constantin Piliuta, Horia Bernea or Sorin Ilfoveanu.
