The National Museum of Art of Romania (MNAR) invites young people aged 13 to 18 to a special programme within the “Gobelius Manufactory: Four Centuries of Creation – The Royal Tapestries (1600-1800)” exhibition. The programme will include a guided tour of the exhibition and a workshop. The meetings are scheduled for Saturday, at noon, for ages 13 to 15, and Sunday, at noon, for those aged 16 to 18. In 17th and 18th century France, the tapestries commissioned by the king no longer served exclusively as decoration of the royal palaces, nor did they perform their original function of “thermal insulators”. Tapestries were displayed on various feasts and processions, on the outward walls of the palaces/buildings, acting as indicators of the king’s power and status. The exhibition is organized in collaboration with “Mobilier National” (France), the French Embassy in Romania and the French Institute in Bucharest and is running until February 26.The participation fee is RON 5/person. To book a place you can call 021/313.30.30 – int. 923 or send an email to familii@art.museum.ro.
