PDL “offers” Boc potential candidacy to Cluj Mayor’s Office

Democratic-Liberal Party (PDL) deputy president Sever Voinescu said yesterday that the decision concerning a potential candidacy to the Cluj Mayor’s Office lay entirely with ex-PM Emil Boc, allowing, however, that many Democrat-Liberals were persuaded Boc would win “hands down”. “The topic has not been addressed in the party’s bureau, in any of our bodies, but there are many colleagues within PDL who speak of this, who want this, who would wish it for Mr. Boc and are firmly persuaded he would win the race for Cluj Mayor’s Office hands down, if he decides to run for it,” Voinescu stated, quoted by Mediafax. When asked whether PDL’s image had been greatly damaged by the scandal in which ex-Cluj mayor Sorin Apostu is involved, Sever Voinescu replied it had been “fairly seriously” damaged.
