Stable revenues for COSMOTE Romania in 2011

Significant increase in clients for Romtelecom

In 2011, member of OTE Group, COSMOTE Romania business segment grew by more than 27 pc versus 2010, attracting major customers like BCR or Transgaz, a press release informs. Total customer base (including Zapp) stood at approximately 6.5 million at the end of 2011, with the postpaid ratio increasing to 23.1 pc, as a result of the business segment growth. At the end of 2011, the company’s market share stood at approximately 24 pc. Revenues remained stable compared to 2010, at EUR 468.2 M. EBITDA (Earnings Before Interest, Taxes, Depreciation and Amortization) margin increased by 5.7 pp, to 21.4 pc, versus 2010, reflecting significant operating improvements. EBITDA rose to EUR 100.1 M, an increase of 35.8 pc versus fiscal year 2010. Following the successful integration of Zapp, 3G services are available to over 66 pc of the population. As a result, the company significantly increased its 3G customer base, by 116 pc compared to fiscal year 2010.On the other hand, the number of Internet and TV services users of Romtelecom, part of OTE group also, exceeded 1.1 million customers at the end of 2011. Revenues in 2011 decreased by 8 pc compared to 2010, EBITDA in Q4 2011, excluding costs of staff cuts, was 2 pc higher compared to Q4 2010, leading to an improvement of 1.3 pc EBITDA  rate. Total operating expenses was 6 pc lower.Meanwhile, telecom operators have to change, untill Saturday, the contracts with final users and to introduce more of the provisions required to protect consumers, the National Authority for Management and Regulation in Communications announced yesterday, in a press release.
