Honda Romania presented yesterday, in a press conference at the company showroom, its new model Civic 2012, available with three types of engine and three equipping variants, at a starting price of EUR 14,490, VAT exclusive. “We started to design this model four years ago and 20,000 km crossed in real conditions were necessary in order to find the perfect solution. This new variant is not just an evolution, but a revolutionary evolution. The new Civic was specifically developed for European customers,” said the president of Honda Trading Romania, Masahiro Matsushita, who has been working with Honda for 30 years. He estimates that the model will account for 40 pc of the total sales of the brand this year, respectively almost 400 units, considering that the Romanian market is enough sophisticated for this new variant. “Now we launched the hatchback variant of the new Civic, and will have the new sedan version available in May. With the new Civic, we want to consolidate the position on the Romanian market, where we want a share of 1 pc,” Matsushita added. The new Civic is available with three versions of engine (Comfort, Sport and Executive), respectively 1.4 liters i-VTEC petrol, 1.8 liters i-VTEC petrol, and 2.2 liters i-DTEC diesel.All variants feature 6-speed manual transmission, ECO Assist and Idle Stop, and the 1.8 liter engine can also be equipped with 5-speed automatic transmission.Speaking about sales, the company’s business planning manager Florin Nita said that this year, Honda International plans to deliver approximately 1,000 automobiles and believes 2012 will be a very good year for Honda. In 2011, the company ranked 19th in the top of world brands and 4th among auto brands, Nita added.
