Famous playwright William Shakespeare will be celebrated at the ‘Livresque’ Book Salon, organised in partnership with the British Council, on April 19-22 at the Palace Hall (Sala Palatului) of Bucharest, the organisers announced. More than 50 publishing houses are expected to participate in the event, which will cover an area of approximately 2,000 square meters. As it precedes April 23, the day when the world commemorates one of its greatest playwrights, William Shakespeare (26 April 1564 – 23 April 1616), the ‘Livresque’ Book Salon will host theatrical companies that will surprise with the original interpretation of the plays written by the famous author. The public is also invited to attend general knowledge contests about English literature.‘Livresque’ also has events dedicated to the World Book and Copyright Day, such as seminars and workshops, campaigns aimed at encouraging the reading habits and promoting written culture, which will enjoy the presence of well-known writers and will serve to discover talented young authors. The latter will have the opportunity to advertise their works at the ‘Speaker’s Corner’ – an area specifically designed to host book launching events, sessions of debates, roundtables and presentations on various matters of interest for specialists and, generally, for people wishing to know more on topics like ACTA, culture exports, the situation of the Romanian writer, and many other matters of actuality for Romania.
