The woman – the central theme of the Artmark spring auction

In its spring auction, the Artmark House will propose a selection of 200 paintings and graphic works, centered on the woman, as a muse for artists: portraits of peasant girls, Tartar and Gypsy women, ordinary women, nudes or bathers. The works will be on display until March 19 at the Cesianu-Racovita Palace (from 11.00 AM to 21.00 PM). The auction is scheduled for March 20, at the Grand Ballroom of the J.W. Marriott Hotel, starting 7.00 PM. The list of works includes ‘Nude seen from behind,’ by Nicolae Tonitza, whose model was the painter’s daughter Irina. The work is evaluated at EUR 70,000-120,000 and was put on sale by an important collector from Bucharest. Other paintings are ‘Peasant girl with kerchief,’ by Stefan Luchian, evaluated at EUR 35,000-65,000, and ‘intimacy’ by Theodor Pallady, estimated at EUR 45,000-75,000, the latter being sold by a collector from Iasi.
