Unions protest as Spain marks eighth anniversary of Madrid train bombings

MADRID – Union protesters marched across Spain Sunday as mourners marked the eighth anniversary of the Madrid train bombings.The timing of the demonstrations prompted criticism from some conservative leaders, who accused Spain’s two main unions of disrespecting victims of the 2004 attacks, CNN informs. But Pilar Manjon, a leader of the largest victims association, said she did not consider the marches disrespectful. According to realitatea.net the Romanian ambassador to Madrid, Ion Vilcu, attended on Sunday the ceremonies. Sixteen Romanians lost their lives on March 11, 2004.The ambassador laid wreath white roses at the place to commemorate the victims, Bosque del Recuerdo in the Retiro Park in Madrid.
