CNADNR boss sacked

Daniela Draghia, the head of the National Company of National Roads and Motorways in Romania (CNADNR) was dismissed from her post yesterday, according to Antena 3 sources who said that PM Mihai Razvan Ungureanu had asked the transport minister to dismiss Draghia, who is held accountable for the flawed snow-clearing campaign this year. Premier Ungureanu allegedly reached the decision to have Draghia fired after prosecutors with the National Anti-Corruption Directorate opened an inquiry into how works contracts had been assigned for the Pan-European Corridor 4. Puterea.ro quoted Transport Ministry sources as saying that several candidates are tipped for the post, including persons endorsed by the Bucharest, Arad and Bistrita Nasaud organisations of the Democrat Liberal Party. A relevant decision will be reached in the coming days.
