Vodafone, Orange and OTE have invested EUR 8 bln in Romania

Vodafone, Orange and OTE have invested until now approximately EUR 8 bln in developing their Romanian subsidiaries and have announced that they will continue to earmark development funds at the same time with the tender that the Communications Regulatory Authority (ANCOM) will organize this year for mobile phone licenses, Mediafax informs. 0In his turn, Orange Romania general manager Jean-Francois Fallacher, stated that the French Group’s investments have surpassed EUR 2 bln since 1997. Cosmote Romania and Romtelecom general manager Stefanos Theocharopoulos stated that OTE Group has invested EUR 3 bln in developing the operations of its subsidiaries in Romania, subsidiaries that have approximately 10,000 employees. KMPG Romania director of technology, media and telecommunications Mihai Rada pointed out that the mobile phone operators’ turnover totaled RON 7.03 bln (EUR 1.6 bln) last year, a level similar to the one registered in 2010, being the equivalent of 3 per cent of GDP.
