IML: Author of Perla murders is legally sane

Gheorghe Vladan, the author of the armed attack at a hair salon in the Perla Complex in Bucharest is legally sane, experts at the Institute of Legal Medicine in Bucharest say, who yesterday concluded his psychiatric expert examination. Vladan was arrested March 6 on charges of first degree murder and non-compliance with the arms and ammunition regime. Gheorghe Vladan disputed the charges in the Bucharest Court of Appeal, only to then announce the court he dropped his appeal. On March 5, around 5.30 pm, Gheorghe Vladan, 53, a driver at the Interior Ministry Polyclinic, stepped into the hair salon in the Perla Complex, Dorobanti district, and shot dead his wife, Florentina Vladan, 47, and cashier Mariana Bendre, and wounded six more persons on premises.
