Firefighters and forestry representatives intervened on Sunday evening and Monday morning in order to put out fires that started in the Jiu Pass National Park on Sunday. According to the Gorj County’s Emergency Situations Inspectorate (ISU), over 40 firefighters and 10 foresters, alongside five representatives of the Gorj Forest District, fought against the brush fires. According to the aforementioned source, approximately 18 hectares of brush were burnt. The forest was not affected. Traffic on National Road 66 was stopped briefly several times in order to prevent any accidents and to clear the gravel.
