Bucharest-Ploiesti Motorway delays fined of EUR 500,000

The National Company of Motorways and National Roads in Romania (CNADNR), in charge of handling the works at the upcoming Bucharest-Ploiesti Motorway, announced that the motorway would not be ready even one and a half months from now, as the company vowed in Dec 2011, but this early summer instead, adevarul.ro quoted CNADNR Investment Manager Vasile Chioaru as saying, who added that the delays were caused by the inclement weather early this year.Despite authorities’ decision to apply the constructors fines worth tens of thousands of euro, they nonetheless prove unable to step up the pace of the construction, which has so far resulted in fines adding up to half a million euros. Motorway works started in 2006 and were supposed to take two years to complete. However, six years have passed without the motorway being finished. The Bucharest-Ploiesti stretch of the forthcoming 565 km A3 Bucharest-Bors Motorway. The motorway consists of two large sections – Bucharest-Brasov and Brasov-Bors (Transilvania Motorway).
