Moldovan Prime Minister Vlad Filat stated on Saturday that the Republic of Moldova has to diversify its sources of electricity imports in order to no longer depend on current suppliers, adding that Romania could cover 30 per cent of Moldova’s electricity needs, realitatea.net informs.During the meeting of the government’s commission on recovery in the energy sector, Vlad Filat asked the institutions concerned to identify alternative sources of natural gas and electricity so that prices will not be hiked for end consumers. “We have a very good communication with our Romanian partners and we have the possibility of buying electricity at a better price from them,” Filat added. Likewise, Vlad Filat asked the authorities involved in building the Ungheni – Iasi natural gas pipeline to respect the deadlines. A Gazprom board meeting will take place On March 28 in Moscow. The contract on the delivery of natural gas will be extended for another three months, the price set to be smaller than it has been until now.
