Road-movies and breakdance are the main themes of the ShortsUP event, scheduled for April 6 at the National Opera of Bucharest (ONB), organisers announced, quoted by Mediafax. The event will start at 10.00 PM.ShortsUP, which projects and promotes the most valuable short movies of the world, brought together films and music, theatre and exhibition of photography and art. Now the time has come for dance, which will be represented by two champions of the most famous breakdance contest – Red Bull BC One. Plus, a jazz band will perform during the entire event. The recently awarded road-movies are populated by heroes that go on a trip – by car, bike, train plane, or even by foot. The important thing is that they leave a comfortable life and go through changes, as they must adapt to new challenges. However, trading safety for freedom implies shattering consequences. In ‘Tooty’s Wedding’ (directed by Fred Casella, UK, 2011), a couple attends a wedding, in a rural area. Comic on the outside, dramatic on the inside, the film shows them being confronted not with each other, but rather with how different they are. ‘The Road Home’ (director: Rahul Gandotra, India/UK, 2010) tells the story of Pico, who was sent by his parents to school in India, but evades and returns home to the United Kingdom. Where is his true home? ‘The Truck’ (director: Tom Merillion, Ireland, 2010) is a 5-minute metaphor of the hallucinating split between two lovers – dancing on a truck in motion.Tickets for ShortsUP ‘On the Move’ can be purchased through Eventim and MyTicket, at the price of RON 25, or at ONB, the evening of the event, at the price of RON 35. All tickets are for seated places and include access to the entire programme – two hours of short movies, the breakdance show, live jazz band and other surprises that will be part of the dynamic night at ONB. Details about the movies can be found at www.shortsup.ro. ShortsUP is a project generated by the ‘Asociatia Oricum’ association, in partnership with Feeder.ro.
