PNTCD President Victor Ciorbea claims that the signing of the cooperation protocol between PDL Bucharest and PNTCD’s Pavelescu wing in view of the local elections proves that the ruling power is trying to subordinate PNTCD to itself through people infiltrated within the party. Moreover, Ciorbea accuses PDL of open involvement in dividing PNTCD by exerting pressures in court in order to have the PNTCD Congress that took place on July 17, 2010, declared valid. Pavelescu was elected party president during that congress. “Pavelescu did not bring any evidence in this trial and most of the delegates that attended the Congress were not PNTCD members,” Ciorbea stated, being quoted by dertv.net. In what concerns negotiations with USL, Ciorbea admitted that they have reached a deadlock so that the party will run in local elections alone in most of the counties. “There were talks with USL. We will see whether something gets signed this week. Maybe there are various approaches within USL too. Everything was very good two months ago and suddenly they’ve started to forget,” Victor Ciorbea pointed out.
