Erik de Vrijer to replace Jeffrey Franks as head of IMF mission to Romania

Jeffrey Franks, the head of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Delegation to Romania, is readying for finishing his term, ‘Adevarul’ daily newspaper reports. Franks has conducted the IMF negotiations with Romania for the past three years, during the 20 bln euro stand-by agreement struck in May 2009, and the preventive-type one underway, which started in the spring of 2011. At the end of this month, Franks will pay his last visit to Romania as head of the mission, and will pass the baton this summer to Dutch expert Erik de Vrijer, assistant director of the IMF’s Europe Department and head of the missions to France and Belgium.
