Aviva Asigurari de Viata posted an 18 pc drop in subscriptions last year, to RON 73.3 M, caused by lower sales in the bancassurance segment, while also curbing losses by 67 pc to RON 6.5 M against 2010, the CEO of the company, Mihai Popescu said yesterday in a meeting with the press also attended by Eugen Voicu, CEO Aviva Pensii. Popescu also mentioned that Aviva Asigurari de Viata collaborates in the bancassurance segment with 6-7 banks and non-banking financial entities. Also last year, the compensations paid to customers decreased by 6 pc to RON 8.9 M, with the bulk of the sum being in the segment of protection policies, while policy redemption operations dropped by 11 pc, to RON 22 M. The average value of the insurance premium increased in a differentiated way, the CEO added. The life insurance market will be on a positive trend this year, also because existing customers do not want to give up their policies, so Aviva will focus upon attracting quality customers that understand the need for keeping a contract over a long interval, the sources explained. On the other hand, Aviva Pensii reached a marginal operational profit of just RON 200,000, CEO Mihai Popescu said, adding that the operations are healthy and it is the most important thing. Speaking about Pillar III, Voicu believes that it will become the most important activity of the company, especially in the second half of the year. The two companies – Aviva Asigurari de Viata, and Aviva Pensii – currently have 140 employees and 300,000 consultants.
