Frunda and Eckstein want to be mayors

UDMR Senator Frunda Gyorgy announced in a press conference held last Wednesday at Targu Mures that he will represent the Union in the elections for the position of Targu Mures mayor, instead of Health Ministry counselor Vass Levente, who had been presented as candidate several months ago. Frunda said that he made the decision out of “team spirit,” at the request of UDMR leaders, “in a difficult moment for UDMR and the Hungarian community”. In his turn, former presidential counselor Peter Eckstein Kovacs was nominated Friday as the candidate of UDMR for the position of mayor of Cluj-Napoca, as he claims that his electoral project is “adorable for both Hungarians and Romanians.”
