136 injured in Amsterdam train crash

At least 136 people were injured – 56 seriously – after two trains collided in Amsterdam on Saturday evening. Police sources say 13 passengers are in a very serious condition and 43 have been badly hurt, Radio Netherlands Worldwide informs. A spokesperson for Dutch Railways (NS) says many have suffered broken bones and severe bruising. Passengers with minor injuries have either been taken to hospital or treated on the spot by ambulance staff. The express from Den Helder to Amsterdam collided with a slow train from Amsterdam to Uitgeest just before 6:30 pm local time between Amsterdam Sloterdijk and Amsterdam Central stations.
