According to a CSOP poll that ‘Evenimentul Zilei’ published on Saturday, Prime Minister Mihai Razvan Ungureanu is in a tie with Victor Ponta in the voter confidence index, both scoring 23 per cent. National Bank of Romania (BNR) Governor Mugur Isarescu tops the rankings with 26 per cent. Liberal Crin Antonescu, the opposition’s candidate in the future Presidential elections, was third with 22 per cent. Ponta topped the previous CSOP poll, published in February, with 22 per cent, followed by Ungureanu and Antonescu with 20 per cent. People’s Party President Dan Diaconescu has caught up with Bucharest Mayor Sorin Oprescu, both of them being in a tie at 19 per cent. President Traian Basescu’s score was unchanged (17 per cent). Among PDL leaders, MEP Theodor Stolojan is the best-ranking with 16 per cent. Elena Udrea scores 14 per cent, in a tie with Emil Boc, Vasile Blaga scores 13 per cent and Adriean Videanu scores 11 per cent. The rise of former Liberal Prime Minister Calin Popescu Tariceanu was remarkable (16 per cent), while Social-Democrat Honorary President Ion Iliescu scores 12 per cent. In what concerns voting intentions when it comes to parties, USL grew by 1 percentage point to 49 per cent, while PDL dropped by 1 percentage point to 19 per cent. Dan Diaconescu’s People’s Party (PPDD) grew by 1 percentage point to 17 per cent. The CSOP poll was conducted on March 23 – April 1, on a sample of 1,096 persons and has a margin of error of +/- 3 per cent.
