Adrian Nastase’s appeal against sentence in ‘Quality Trophy’ file, postponed for May 2

The magistrates of the Supreme Court postponed for May 2 the trial of the appeal filed by Adrian Nastase against the sentence of 2 years imprisonment, without parole, in the ‘Quality Trophy’ case, after the former premier, his lawyer Ion Cazacu and Irina Jianu announced that they cannot come in court yesterday, Mediafax reports. According to the source, Cazacu invoked medical reasons and submitted to magistrates the documents which certify that he cannot stand in court at the initial term. On January 30, 2012 the High Court of Cassation and Justice sentenced Nastase to two years in prison without parole, for illegally gathering funds through the ‘Quality Trophy’ event, in the electoral campaign of 2004, when he was the presidential candidate of PSD.
