Boc and Udrea maintain the complete restoration of wages

PDL leader Emil Boc said yesterday that the major concern of PDL and of the ruling coalition is restoring the wages of public employees to their initial levels, but it is the Government that has the final say.“The major concern of PDL and of the coalition is restoring the salaries of state employees. This is a political commitment of the coalition, which we made ever since 2010,” Emil Boc added.According to the PDL leader, “the conditions exist now for restoring the last part of the salaries throughout the public system.”In her turn, PDL vice-president Elena Udrea said yesterday that restoring the wages in the public sector should be operated “as soon as possible.”“When we had as solution cutting salaries by 25 pc, I said that this is a temporary measure and that state employees will receive their money back within a reasonable time interval. They received half of it, and now we must give back what’s left as soon as possible,” Udrea stated.PDL spokesman Sever Voinescu is another party official which said yesterday, after the meeting of the Political Bureau of PDL, that salaries throughout the public system will be restored “as soon as possible, if the balance of the budget is maintained,” but could not specify whether this will be in June or in May. Another politician who voiced an opinion over this issue is the honorary president of PSD, Ion Iliescu, who stated in a TV show: “People must get their money back. The measure of cutting salaries and pensions is not just anti-social; it is also anti-economic, because it affects the purchasing power of the population.” According to Iliescu, “USL or the future government must bear in mind that increasing salaries is a primordial objective.”
