Alico: Life insurance market to grow by 10 pc in 2012

The life insurance market will continue to remain on an upward trend this year too, set to grow by 10 per cent from RON 1.7 bln in 2011, Alico Romania general manager Theodor Alexandrescu stated on Monday. “Guaranteed life and health insurances will grow, while unit-linked insurances will drop. Life insurances with a savings component sold through banks will experience stagnation in sales,” Alexandrescu stated, being quoted by Mediafax. He added that Alico Asigurari paid RON 22 M in compensations last year, compared to RON 21.2 M in 2010. “The money were collected by approximately 11,800 persons, of which one received EUR 100,000, the highest sum paid in 2011,” Alexandrescu stated, pointing out that the biggest compensation paid by Alico since its establishment stood at approximately EUR 240,000.
