Tipe Johnson to play with Apocalyptica in Bucharest performance

Bucharest actress Mariana Mihut was awarded the UNITER award for best actress in a lead role for her part in “Bury me behind the plinth” at Bulandra Theater in Bucharest, “Radu Stanca” Theater in Sibiu won the award for best theatrical performance, and  Craiova’s “Marin Sorescu” Theater’s “Caligula”  director Laszlo Bocsardi, got two awards for best director and best actor. The 20th UNITER Gala Awards was hosted by Odeon Theater, Monday evening. Liviu Ciulei and Alexandru Tocilescu were awarded post-mortem awards. Sorin Leoveanu received the best actor in a lead role award and Laszlo Bocsardi got the best director award for “Caligula”. “Last Day of Youth” directed by Yuri Kordonsky at “Radu Stanca” National Theater in Sibiu received the best performance award. Kordonsky also directed “Bury me behind the plinth”, at Bulandra Theater in Bucharest, which brought Mariana Mihut yet another UNITER award for best actress in a leading role. The winners in the best supporting actor/actress went to Cornel Scripcaru of Bulandra Theater, who played “Ivanov”, and Ana Maria Macaria, Nastenka of “Notes from a stranger ” at Bulandra. The “best scenography”, was handed out to Bulgarian scenographer Nikola Toromanov, for “The Visit of the Old Lady “, Bucharest National Theater. The Best Radio Play Award went to the Romanian Radio Broadcast Corporation’s  “Shylock”, by Gareth Armstrong, director Razvan Popa. Raluca Vermesan received the Best Debut Award for Helen in “XXL”, Act Theater, Bucharest. Among the gala guests was actress Jaqueline Bisset, who handed out the best director award. Culture Minister Kelemen Hunor gave the best performance award. He also handed a honorary award to UNITER president Ion Caramitru, who was congratulated on his 70th birthday anniversary, offering him an icon and a reward diploma for being instrumental to the 20 UNITER Award editions so far.
