PDL Bucharest President Elena Udrea has asked the members of her organisations already with two terms in office on the Bucharest City Council not to run again and make room for newer colleagues. ‘(…)We have decided to make the first recommendation to all those who have already served two terms on the City Council to choose to stand for election to a different office and take a distinct career path in the party, making room for newer colleagues who could bring a fresh approach’, Udrea told a press conference yesterday. She added there are six councillors with more than two terms who have shown an intention to run again. Udrea noted the recommendation should not be regarded as some sort of punishment, because some of them will stand for election as members of Parliament and that PDL Bucharest ‘will find other ways to promote them’. According to Udrea, a jury will choose the winner of the ‘A project for Bucharest’ campaign who will be lead candidate on PDL’s list for the City Council. Ex-Bucharest Mayor Adriean Videanu and journalist Robert Turceascu will be on that list.
