BCR Asigurari has concluded the merger process with Omniasig and took over the name and emblem of the latter. The new company, operational since Tuesday, is the insurance market leader, with underwritings worth RON 1.2 bln last year, outpacing Astra, which posted revenues matching RON 1.01bln, Mediafax reported. In 2011, the former Omniasig reported underwritten premiums equal to RON 761.55 M, and BCR Asigurari, RON 441 M. In the post-fusion interval, a number of steps will be taken, including portfolio transfer and registration with the Trade Register, according to the Omniasig communiqué. “This tie-up has the goal of creating a leading insurance company in Romania, and to make Vienna Insurance Group operations more efficient on the local market. The fusion, which resulted in the creation of the Omniasig Company, provides a stronger, more stable, with a broader and very well implemented network nationwide(…),” reads the communique.
