Paintings, silver objects and furniture for art collectors

On May 15–17, Artmark invites art collectors to attend a series of auctions featuring masterpieces and rare objects coming from private collections. About 400 unique lots, consisting in paintings, decorative silver items, furniture, collectibles and oddities have been selected in the four auctions held at the end of this spring. One of the centerpieces of the auction named ‘Old masters of Romanian painting (18th-19th Centuries)’ will be ‘Nymph in grass’ by Nicolae Grigorescu, evaluated at EUR 30,000-60,000. The painting represents a nude that reminds of the themes of the Barbizon School. Another painting by Grigorescu is ‘Edge of Campulung,’ estimated at the same EUR 30,000-60,000, which displays an image specific to a Romanian village in the late 19th century. Grigorescu’s first professor, Anton Chladek is the author of the painting named ‘Portrait of a Phanariot Governor’ (estimated at EUR 6,500 – 8,500).On May 15 and 16, the Athenee Palace Hilton Bucharest will host the auction ‘Works in Silver,’ while on May 17 organisers await participants in the ‘Auction of furniture and office accessories’ and the auction “Cabinet of oddities”, which will be held at the Cesianu-Racovita Palace in Bucharest.The exhibitions of the auctions will open today at the Cesianu-Racovita Palace, until May 14, from 11.00 AM to 9.00 PM.
