Japanese festival Michi-biraki reaches third edition

The Japanese section of the Bucharest University will hold this Sunday, starting 10.00 AM, the third edition of the Japanese festival Michi-biraki (Open road). Like in the previous years, the event will be hosted by the Botanical Garden (32, Soseaua Cotroceni Avenue) and features many workshops, artistic moments and exhibitions. The public is invited to learn the art of origami, write Japanese ideograms, play go and Japanese chess, use furoshiki cloth for wrapping and transporting objects, wear yukata and kimonos, and learn traditional dances. This is also a good opportunity to read manga magazines, watch anime cartoons, sing karaoke, learn the basics of the Japanese language, listen to specific songs and short theatrical plays. The public is invited to see exhibitions of ikebana, taste sushi and Japanese cookies, and enjoy many other surprises! The event is organised by the Japanese section of the Bucharest University jointly with the Botanical Garden and the Faculty of Biology, with support from the Embassy of Japan in Bucharest, the Japanese school of Bucharest and the ‘Ion Creanga’ National College. As usual, the opening event will be attended by H.E. Mr. Natsuo Amemiya, the Ambassador of Japan in Bucharest.
