A number of 5,625 companies underwent insolvency January thru April, down over 20 pc year on year according to a communiqué by the Trade Register (ONRC). Last year, 7,192 companies filed for insolvency. The number of insolvent companies seesawed since early in the year, down to 1,134 in Feb, from 1,474 in Jan, and up to 1,806 in March only to fall to 1,211 in April. Bucharest and the counties of Dolj and Arges saw the highest number of insolvencies in the first four months of the year – 454, 406 and 382 respectively.
