The Casa di David restaurant located close to Bucharest’s Herastrau Park was damaged by fire on the night of Sunday to Monday, the firefighters’ intervention being difficult. Firefighters used 11 fire engines carrying water and foam. Their intervention took over three hours. There were no victims but the firefighters’ intervention was made difficult by the fact that access by car on the streets around the restaurant was blocked, that there were no fire hydrants, that the wind was strong and that the restaurant had a wooden roof. Firefighters had to cut the metal poles that kept the streets around the restaurant off limits to cars. The fire allegedly started from the Aqua restaurant located next to the Casa di David restaurant. The latter was partially damaged. “The kitchen and a part of a hall were affected,” Casa di David employees stated for Mediafax. A team from Bucharest’s Emergency Situations Inspectorate will establish the causes of the fire. Damages have not been evaluated yet.
