The political vice-president of UDMR, Borbely Laszlo said Monday that, if the Union did not succeed satisfying the wishes of ethnic Hungarians regarding the Targu Mures University of Medicine and Pharmacy (UMF) through a Government Decision, it will take care to solve the problem by “different mean.”According to Mediafax, the UDMR vice-president told the 300 participants in the launching event of the Union’s candidates for the Mures County, that – same as in the beginning of the 1990’s – “some” would like to reduce the number of UDMR representatives, but they must “move forward” what they achieved in the last 20 years. He added that there is “a politician that held an important religious function and, of late, turned against his own religion, out of an egotistic interest,” in a transparent allusion to Tokes Laszlo. Speaking about the situation of UMF Targu Mures, Borbely told the audience that, if UDMR was unable to satisfy the wishes of ethnic Hungarians regarding the Targu Mures University of Medicine and Pharmacy (UMF) through a Government Decision, it will take care to solve the problem by “different means.”“As for the UMF, we will solve the problem of the third multicultural university. We were unable to do it through a Government Decision, we will do it by different means. The Hungarian Students’ Association of Targu Mures, (MMDSZ), the Hungarian professors, with the help of UDMR, will use legal means to have the Charter admitted by the Senate, as required by law. It is our right and we have no other alternative. We must be strong and there is no other way we can do it; only with you. After 22 years of politics, I can say: it was worth it, we move forward,” Borbely concluded.
