Danone Romania posted a turnover of RON 503 M for 2011, 5.7 pc more than the previous year, the company announced in a press release. ”(…) Compared to other European countries, consumption of dairy products is very low in in Romania, so the Romanian market has a huge growth potential,” said Dieter Schulz, Danone general director for Central and Southern Europe. The company currently has 574 employees, and the logistic team of 164 people allotted to the new joint-venture delivers over 1.5 million Danone products in the market each day. Danone Romania invested over RON 16 M in 2011 for technological modernisation and for improving the work conditions of its employees. The dairy producer has partnerships with 57 Romanian farms, and over 90 pc of its output is produced locally. The company collected last year 65 million liters of fresh milk as raw material, and sold over 1.5 million products each day.
