Serban Matei, head of the market operations division of the National Bank of Romania (BNR), will be appointed at the end of this summer as Romania’s new representative to the International Monetary Fund, replacing Mihai Tanasescu, who will become vice-president of the European Investment Bank (EIB), Mediafax reports. Matei is also president of ACI Romania – the Financial Markets Association – and is a member of the Romanian Association for the Club of Rome. Mihai Tanasescu, the acting representative of Romania to the IMF and a former minister of Finance, will be appointed as vice-president of EIB for a 6-year term – a first for Romania.
