The visit by ArcelorMittal President Lakshmi N. Mittal also said he was confident that the Romanian team would overcome the current difficulties generated by the market circumstances, said ArcelorMittal Galati Solidaritatea union leader Gheorghe Tiber. The offer put in by ArcelorMittal Galati, one of the biggest energy consumers in Romania, to purchase electricity on the OPCOM exchange (electricity market operator) was withdrawn in March because the plant had not received any sale proposal. The company was planning to buy 3.15 M MWh (approx. 5 percent of the total national consumption of power) during two years.
