Public employees could soon have a new work schedule, as PM Victor Ponta would have all the public employees start work at 9:00 am and leave home at 5:00 pm. “This is the premier’s recommendation, towards working hours aligning to the EU norms. While government employees will work from 9 to 5, each institution can nonetheless choose what they believe to be the optimum schedule for their activities,” Antena3 quoted government spokesman Andrei Zaharescu to have said yesterday. Public employees are working between 8:00 am and 4:00 pm, a schedule set by former premier Mihai Razvan Ungureanu. Asked about the change, Ponta answered yesterday: “”Well, allow me to concern myself with more important matters, unlike the previous prime ministers. They must come to work to do their job.”
