Silaghi wants Otopeni underground line checked

Transport Minister Ovidiu Silaghi sent the Ministry’s supervisory body to look into the stage of the project referring to an underground train line to link Bucharest and the Henri Coanda Airport in Otopeni, according to Mediafax. “The supervisory body is not the bogeyman, it needs to see what stage the project is in, what difficulties they face that we could help them solve,” Silaghi said, while on a visit at the construction site of mainline 5. The work on the Raul Doamnei-Eroilor stretch is 1-2 months behind schedule, yet, the Transport and Infrastructure Ministry (MTI) will catch up the delay, so that the 2015 deadline will still be met. Ioan Ursu, who is in charge of the technical aspect of the project, said that construction companies will complete the stations by the end of next year. “By late next year, we will have finished the structure of the stations and thence, it will take nearly two years until the project is finished,” Ursu said. The network equipment will require a tender to be held next year.
