Parliament’s decision on representation to European Council, after local elections

Premier Victor Ponta stated yesterday that the mission of USL representatives in the two Chambers of Parliament is to ask for a Parliamentary session after the June 10 local elections, a session that would decide Romania’s representation at the European Council. Ponta stated that the Parliament’s decision cannot be anticipated, pointing out that the government is no longer “the boss” of Parliament. He pointed out that USL will decide within its groups of MPs what it will ask the Parliament for. In the letter he sent to Parliament, Premier Victor Ponta asks for permission to present, during the joint plenum meeting, a statement on issues included on the EU agenda. In the aforementioned letter Ponta did not ask Parliament to adopt a decision on Romania’s representation to the European Council.
