Inter-religious symposium in Bucharest.
The Conventus hall of the Patriarchy Palace yesterday hosted the inter-religious symposium ‘Diaspora – a reality of present-day society,’ organised by the Romanian Patriarchy jointly with the Sapir Center of Jerusalem and the Romanian Federation of Jewish Communities, with support from the State Secretariat for Religions.The event was open by His Beatitude Daniel, Patriarch of the Romanian Orthodox Church, who delivered an address named ‘Dialogue and cooperation for the common good.’ The symposium also opened with the official messages sent by the Jewish Committee for inter-religious relations of Israel, the Presidency of Romania, the Government of Romania and the Romanian Federation of Jewish Communities. The list of personalities that took the floor includes His Excellency Chief Rabbi Mordechai Piron, Mr. Cristian Diaconescu, Presidential Counselor, His Eminence Grand Rabbi Menachem Hacohen, Dr. Adrian Lemeni, state secretary for Cults and Dr. Aurel Vainer, president of the Jewish Communities of Romania. The symposium was attended by priests and theology professors of the Romanian Orthodox Church from Romania and abroad, rabbis and representatives of the Jewish communities of Israel, Switzerland, France and the United States of America. The purpose of the symposium is deepening the spiritual significance of the Diaspora and promoting the practical cooperation at social scale.
