High officials of the European Commission (EC) and of 15 states are expected in Bucharest Friday, June 1st, for the conference at prime ministers level ‘Friends of the cohesion,’ dedicated to the 2014-2020 Multiannual Financial Framework of the European Union, government sources announced yesterday, quoted by financiarul.ro. The event brings together the countries interested by maintaining the EU cohesion policy, in the context of discussing the new financial framework (2014-2020), reads the press release. The Bucharest meeting will be attended by officials from Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Cyprus, Croatia, Estonia, Greece, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia and Spain. Romania supports the cohesion policy aimed at maintaining the policies through which the EU allots funds to less developed states, so they can reach the average development level of the EU. This meeting will also prepare the European Council of June, which will also discuss the next European financial framework.
