Court gives verdict in Voicu case

Senator Catalin Voicu (suspended from PSD) received Friday two prison terms for influence trafficking – 4 and 5 years – and another sentence of one year and a two months, for using forged papers, and will serve the longest sentence, i.e. that of 5 years, minus the time he already spent in preventive arrest (from 30 March 2010 to 18 July 2011). The 5-judge panel of the High Court of Cassation and Justice also sentenced business Marius Locic, manager of SC Locic Imobiliare SRL, to 4 years in prison for buying influence, one year and two months for use of forged papers and one year and a half for intellectual forgery. The former president of the Supreme Court’s Civil Section, judge Florin Costiniu was sentenced to 3 years behind bars for complicity to influence peddling, but he will be released on probation, with the probation interval set at 6 years. DNA announced that it will appeal the verdict
