Watch alert for rainfalls, thunderstorms and floods

A watch alert for rainfalls and thunderstorms was issued yesterday at 10 AM for all regions of the country and will expire today at 6 PM. Meteorologists warned that rainfalls could surpass 50-60 liters per square meter in hilly and mountainous regions, as well as in northern regions. According to the National Meteorological Agency (ANM), atmospheric instability will be registered on Wednesday particularly in the eastern half of the country. Thunderstorms, wind gusts, hailstorms and torrential rains will be frequent during the aforementioned period.Yesterday hydrologists issued a watch alert for floods for rivers located in 17 eastern counties. The alert, which concerns the basins of the rivers Viseu, Iza, Somes, Mures, Olt, Prahova, Arges, Siret, Jijia and of rivers in Dobrogea, will expire on Wednesday evening.
